Art of the Day: "I Feel A Little Different Today, 2014" by Gabriel Böhmer

This piece, of a person with beetle parts, was painted after Gabriel woke up somewhat cranky. He has used the beetle as a means to express unruly behaviour for some time, and has also published a book called ‘Beetle Days,’ about mischievous beetles that steal things. The painting was entirely completed in Acrylic paint, including the painstaking gothic calligraphy—which made Gabriel even more grouchy…or as he likes to say, ‘beetley.’ However, upon the painting’s completion, these thoughts lifted and Gabriel felt much better.
