Art of the Day: "Bowie (David), 2012" by Margit Platny

“The painting is part of the series "Big Shots. Große Tiere." - portraits of street dogs. After the dogs have been living in dog shelters for a short or a long period of time some of them found a new owner, others, unadoptable, are less fortunate. On the canvas they become protagonists – big shots – in their own stories, and step out of the anonymous shadowy existence into an imaginary limelight. Thanks to their famous names they move into the focus of our perception.”
