Art of the Day: "Abstsract Art Sixty-One, 2012" by Lynne Taetzsch

“I always paint standing up at an easel so that I can move freely, painting with large gestures and reacting immediately to the image in front of me. This painting was created with abstract expressionist passion. I used a palette knife to make broad strokes of paint, letting the shapes spring to life and build upon each other. Like fire rising, the reds leap and grow, bursting from the muted background.”
