Painting is like sex. You've got to want to. If you're just going through the motions - it doesn't sing. A landscape has to tickled, captured, ravished. The curve of a woman's back or the indigo of a distant hill - you've got mentally sink your teeth into it with a paintbrush.

I was skint when I got here so my canvases were bed sheets, from charity shops, stretched over roofing baton frames and I used homebase emulsion. Now it's become a habit. The muse is endless.
