  • Biography
My abstracts have been described as visual meditations driven by color, atmosphere and movement. They have a quiet energy that resonates with the more reflective nature of our being.

I began painting in 2012 after a long career in graphic design. At first, my paintings tended toward realism: solitary trees, vast skies and oceans. My style has evolved out of necessity (I’m allergic to some mediums, thereby requiring different painting tools) and desire. In my artistic evolution, whether expressing myself in graphic design, encaustics, cold/wax medium or acrylics, the one constant is my fondness for large, empty spaces. Why?

"Negative space" imparts elegance and provides tension, not balance, quietly guiding the eye toward a clear focal point. Vast, open areas also provide a resting place for the eyes, where texture can take center stage.

In the end, I want the viewer to linger in the tranquility of the space and enjoy being guided around the painting through its lines, textures and rhythms.
