My art studio is located in the Northrup King Building of Northeast Minneapolis. Built in 1917, it is a large, brick, industrial building that housed the Northrup King Seed Company until 1986. At that point, some renovations were made, and the building became art studios. One thing that wasn't changed were the original windows. They are charming in a antique industrial sort of way and I love them, but they're a bit drafty in our cold Minnesota winters! I also had the wits scared out of me the morning I took this photo, because about 10 minutes before this I had a very large Canadian goose try to fly in through the opening!

Getting ready for the annual "Art-a-Whirl" artshow. My studio isn't usually this clean! Normally it's in a state of "controlled chaos" when I'm working on new paintings.

    Plein Air Painting

One of my favorite ways to get out of the work of chopping wood for the fire is to set up my plein air easel and look too busy to be bothered! Haha! On this particular evening we were in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada and I couldn't resist painting the late afternoon/pre dusk lighting and wilderness overlook we were set up on.

    Biking and Painting

I love to go on long trail rides in the summer, and many times I'll pack a small watercolor kit with me in case I stumble upon a particularly picturesque spot to paint. On this particular day I was biking to the west on Minneapolis, MN and stopped at a spot along Lake Minnetonka.
