    Suminagashi demonstration

    How I produce my suminagashi prints . Suminagashi means ink floating on water which is exactly what it is. I can use the water viscosity as you can see on the video or blow air or drag a hair to move the images Printed on to washi paper or silk . It is a mediative process and I always use music to drift in to another world

    Video of painting pine trees using sumi ink on lime and casein plaster My years as an interior and mural painter have taught me many techniques.. this is probably the most unforgiving medium I’ve used. The ink embeds in to the plaster. Inspired by probably my favourite artist ever hosaku... peaceful sublime images epitomising the zen and capturing the essence of our surroundings. Is my quest to get in this mindset and bring a touch of the 21 st century. How our landscapes are changing around us. Years ago I’d have tutted and noted a huge metal mast in the trees. Now I barely notice them . They have become a part of our enviroment
