About Scott Feringa

  • Biography
The job of the artist creating the portrait is almost always to provide an exposed representation of the sitter, but this does not always result in a true portrait. It is often carefully adjusted to reveal something, but the result is just an image of how the model wants to be seen. Scott chooses to create works that are rough and pure. Scott usually prefers to limit his palette to monochrome, revealing the essence of the performer with charcoal, graphite and pastels. Most importantly, he doesn't just observe. The end result is a portrait that is honest and direct, with no markers of time or place, and therefore able to tell the sitter as they are.
