Biography
Over the years my work has evolved into two definite streams, neither of which I am willing to sacrifice for the other. I am drawn to portray surreal scenes of events caught at their turning points... odd situations where we can glimpse or guess the tension of choice. The enigmatic element in these works invites the viewer to stop short and involve themselves in a possible outcome or maybe simply ponder a personal meaning. Often these paintings involve figures.
The other half of my work is time-honored quest trying to capture the intrinsic beauty of the places I have been. Much as I love the narrative, sometimes beauty is its own reward and the challenge is to communicate it in a way that allows others to appreciate my personal viewpoint.
And because part of my background is in graphic arts, I still keep my hand in illustration and design, an activity that cannot help but influence my fine art.
