About Ruwan Sorensen

  • Biography
I am a self taught ceramic artist, living in the city of Copenhagen. I have attended several work-shops to learn the basics, but mainly my sculptures are a product of experimentation and self-determination.
The woman who held a ball of clay in her hands 10 years ago, totally fell in love with the material and has not been able to let go of it since.
My organic, sculptural vessels are very much influenced by nature, were it fungus from the woodland undergrowth or sea vegetation from the bottom of the ocean. Like for so many other artists, nature for me, is a bottomless pit of inspiration.
My technique is all by hand, I start with a ball of clay and by pinching and molding my small sculptures come to life. I only make one of a kind, may it be the form and structure or the glazing of the vessel.
I hope you will love my art, as I love creating it. Thanks for visiting.
