About Robert Chew

I am a California impressionist landscape artist using deconstructed, tonalist, and abstract techniques to create oil on canvas paintings. I paint for a living and having many collectors in the US and Europe. I paint because it brings joy to me and to my clients. My style and compositions are all original and are created with the idea of bringing a personal feeling or mood to the viewer. I want them to say two things: 1) "I have been to this place" and 2) "I must have this." I am a California Impressionist using the impressionist palette. I find California compositions/landscapes and use traditional impressionistic and tonalist techniques to create authentic atmospheres and moods. I am also president of an artist-run collective gallery called The Artists Gallery in Los Angeles. The gallery has 70 artists which I help manage, promote, and work with to bring great art to the Los Angeles market. I have come across several interesting artists on Artfinder and believe this is a strong audience for my work. I particularly want to see how some of my smaller, new California/French landscapes will be received. I work with artists one to one, hold retreats, create a video learning series (Artists at Work) on YouTube, as well as offering a more in-depth Patreon offering for learning.
