About RADU DUMITRESCU

  • Biography

Painting has always been the driving force for me. I soon realized that watercolor is the appropriate way for expressing myself as a painter. I feel that watercolor offers me the way to find and to reveal what is beyond the image, the meaning, the soul, the life, the magic of the subject.

I feel my style is spontaneous, powerful and passionate, I try to interpret the effects of light and color, to explore all the consequences of the combination of color, water and paper.

About my technique: I consider that drawing is very important in watercolor technique. After choosing a subject, I draw on drawing paper at the same scale with the painting. This is the first step where I start to discover and understand the essence of the subject. The second step consists of drawing again on the watercolor paper. The third step is coloring ;I use the wet on wet technique.

I prefer to paint with height quality materials: 300 g/m2 paper Daler Rowney and Vincent brush.
