About Patrick Smith

I've always enjoyed seeing abstract paintings in galleries and museums. So now after a lot of practice, I make the paintings I like to see.

Each has a meaning that emerges as I paint them, or I have an idea to start with. I paint in oils on panels or canvas, and mostly in square format to imply neither portraits nor landscapes.

I know the work is finished when I get any of the wide range of emotional feelings I get in a museum.
