Mr. Vedernikov is the first Russian artist in my small collection. I immediately was drawn to the soft and exquisite details found in many of his wildlife projects, but this "Waxwing" took my heart. I made my order, but I did not hear from him for quite some time. I did receive a notice that the item was shipped. It arrived after several weeks and was securely wrapped for its very long journey. On arrival, I did not immediately open the package because I had to look at the stamps. Russian stamps are beautiful art in their own right! I must share with any reader the packaging he used here. The bird is sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard that are themselves covered in bird print paper. I have never seen anything like this before, and I have kept this entire package just because it is so unique. The object of my purchase, "Waxwing" was safely perched inside. It is ever so much better than the photograph! It has retained the soft lines and gentle shading as I hoped, but the fades of color around the beak are more intense than shown, while the brilliant yellows in the wings put a dynamic of life into this project. Everytime I look at this bird, I keep expecting it to sing to me! I am thankful Mr. Vedernikov has the courage to share his extraordinary art with us.
