    Learning the Art of the Selfie

    This is my first selfie, taken with my dear friend and fellow artist, Svetlana Davis. I am the one with the silver hair! I have also been a photographer since college, and since beginning the new series of children's books, my photoshop had to get up to speed. But I will be putting in photographs from around the world soon. I spent my first art pay check in Oman, in 1978, on two Yashika cameras and three lenses. It was so hot I had to do a combination of sketching on site and taking photographs. I last used them on a trip to Spain in 2009, but I usually use my digital now as so much easier to carry around. But I miss the chemical smell of the developer in the dark room....

    Hot in New Mexico

    New series of oil paintings about famous Route 66 and lesser know but just as intriguing Hwys 82 and 70. Here passing by the White Sands State Park,the largest open gypsum deposite in the world. It is so bright during sunny days you must wear sun glasses to prevent snow blindness. Go late in the afternoon for sunset and take a picnic. It is astonishing and guided tours are great. If you have children they will not want to leave. If you are an artist you will go nuts. My son's friend kind of freaked out as I made him walk on top of the dunes as a big storm was coming in --the skies here can be spectacular.
