    Collage workshop

    Collage workshop

    My sister has just spent a week with me and we set up a collage workshop in the dining room. We had absolutely everything going in there. Paper, textiles, gouaches, pens, pencils, watercolour, colouring with tea and coffee, canvases, paper and of course a glass of wine!

    This is my work area in the winter. It is not quite so spacious but nice and cosy. The good thing is that all you really need to make collage is a good table and a sewing machine! And all the nature around you for inspiration!

    Summer work area

    Summer work area

    This is my summer work area. Our old farm house here in France has a wonderful barn which houses our B&B guest rooms but also a large work area which I use in the summer. In the winter it is too cold as the area where I work is not heated so then I head into the house where it's nice and cosy. I have this fantastic work table which is huge. My husband made it out bits of the old barn door when we renovated the barn. It's lovely to re-cycle stuff. Just like the fabrics! (For the B&B take a look at www.lamaisonvertefrance.com)

    My fabric collection!

    I collect most of my textiles from the brocantes here in France, or from charity shops when I visit England and Denmark. We also have a great charity shop close to us here in France where I often buy second hand clothes which I cut up and use for my collage. It's amazing what you can make out of old scarves and shirts etc!

    The sewing machine features highly in my day! It's amazing how versatile it is when you get a free-hand embroidery foot. You can really get carried away for hours.
