About Michele Guilloteau

  • Biography
I'm a professional artist painter who lives and works near Toulouse and Guérande in France.
Since I have painted, my life changed and I flourished at the same time as my painting, more colorful, more balanced, more optimistic.

At the beginning, I used a lot of reliefs by folding the paper I pasted on the canvas. From the shapes obtained, my mind escaped into abstract landscapes or I "saw" a shoulder and then I developed one or more characters.

Sometimes, I don't use colors because I need to work in black and white. This permits me to see in the ink spots lots of funny imaginary characters.

Recently, I'm not using stick on the canvas anymore, but I put a texture that brings more reliefs in my work. I am interested in "the Line" exploring the skyline, the maritime theme, as much as the urban theme with imaginary cities and factories, old buildings and abandoned sites with a nod to the Art Street. It's a reflection on the human presence in these places but also on our consumer society.

But current research on the "Horizon line" remain my most personal work. An explosion of emotions, colors, childhood memories, holidays on the beaches of Vendée, fishing on foot, large spaces, the ocean.... The foreground is treated in a more abstract way with material that it lays with a knife to paint.

Real or imaginary, this work remain an invitation to travel.

I paint with acrylic, using brushes, palette knifes and my fingers a lot !!

I sold artworks in different country, as France, UK, Netherlands, USA, Australia, Canada and Germany.

Thank you for visiting my gallery. I really hope you will take pleasure and will find something that will catch your attention.

Don't hesitate to contact me, I will be happy to answer all your questions.
