    In July 2016 Heraklion had its first street art festival. This was a very busy time for me so I came up with a simple concept. The carpet brings back memories of the past. Locals would air or dry their carpets over their walls. I find such beauty in this.

    Late 2015 I was given a long lease on a big old house in Greece. The house needs lots of work but is very beautiful! In my new studio I also have a small art group.

    The Lakkos boys

    I live in a beautiful but neglected park of Heraklion, Crete's old town. I have started a group of street artists. The aim of the group is to paint photos of the old locals from when they were young. At first I was worried that the old people in the neighborhood would not like the change. I need not have worried as they were very pleased with the new addition. This painting is of Dimitris, Yiannis and Lefteris. The two older brothers were both killed in WW2. Yiannis went on to bring up a family in the house that the painting is on. His daughter gave me the photo. Yiannis never spoke of his brothers after they were killed.

    I live on the island of Crete so ALL paintings have to be wrapped individually, before traveling to Athens on the ferry. I have given myself a week to get them ready.

    The old house I work from was once a fruit and veg shop. Most of my neighbours are called Maria and average about 80 years old. I don't speak much Greek but still I love a chat with the locals most days.
