  • Packing my Painting for Shipping

    Packing my Painting for Shipping

Like my sculpture I also want to make sure my paintings arive to its destination safely. I do this by firstly wrapping it in acid free protective paper, followed by card to provide protection from any moments and knocks. Plastic sheeting is then applied to keep out any damp which is then placed into a sturdy box. Each painting comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity to prove that it is an original artwork.

    Packing my Sculpture for Shipping

All of my sculptures are packed to ensure they arrive to its destination safely. Depending on the type of sculpture I do this by generally adding loose fill like foam and bubble wrap inside. Some of my sculptures is then placed in a box within a box to ensure that it does not move or get knocked around during transit. Each sculpture comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity to prove that it is an original artwork.

In the studio making ceramic sculpture

A lot of my ceramic sculptures start on the potters wheel. I use the wheel to create geometric components like cylinders, cones and spheres. These are then cut up and assembled to create these forms. I then apply contrasting colours and glaze to enhance the way light interacts with the form. I make two variety of sculpture. Stand-alone and wall sculpture. Some people say may art is scientific and engineered. For some it reminds them of places, others say it makes them feel happy and full.

Building up layers, from barcode paper cut outs to oozing acrylic paints. I see my paintings as an extension of my ceramic sculptures, a further exploration of my ideas. Ideas around the mysteries of belief, spirituality, time, space, the nature of reality, society and the human experience. It was Stonehenge that sparked my interest and ideas into these themes.

    Working in the Studio

Working on a series of collage paintings. Often with my collage paintings I start with cutouts. With this I have been using barcodes as it relates to the theme of the paining. I enjoy building up the depth of the painting using different materials.

One of the reasons I decided to pursue art is because from a young age I was curious about the world around me.

    Stone Circles England Inspired Sculptures

What I find fascinating about places like Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles are things like why they were built and how they were built. It is this ultimate mystery that sits in the landscape. When I go to these places I am reminded of the potential humans have. I am left to decide how I want to see and experience them. People are left to bring their own imagination to them. This is a big inspiration for my ceramic sculptures. I wanted to translate my own interpretation of stone circles to my artworks. I want to make artworks that invite curiosity and imagination and new ways of experiencing. These ceramic sculptures are made using simple shape like cones and cylinders that are thrown on the potter’s wheel. They are then cut up and joined together to create these open forms. I then apply colour by spraying it to the surface. I like to build up multiple layers and create line and pattern. The sculptures go through multiple firings then finally a clear glaze is applied.
