    I seem to go into a trance when I paint and this is a typical image of me at the beginning of a new canvas. I often work on several at the same time flipping from one to the other as more colours and marks get merged onto the canvas surface. Quite a magical moment seeing the painting develop in front of your eyes.

    My Gallery and Studio is down here in Plymouth where I have been artist in residence in the Royal William Yard for over 12 years. I love it here the only down side being its distance from most. Well the South West has always been a magnet for us arty types, I think for me it is the feeling of life slowing down in this part of the country that helps the creative fluids flow.

    Its all about the framing! How a painting ends up can so much depend on the framing and I try to find what is best for each work of art, some I leave but some just exude style once they have the right frame to suit the intended interior.

    A visit from a great Master of art Burt Irvin 2014

    It was a great moment to have a personal visit from Albert Irvin one of our national treasures in the art world. He unfortunatly passed away last year at the grand age of 92, I hope I get even close to such a great age. We had an hour of close chat about art in general and ofcourse what he thought of my work. He loved it and the huge at the end of our short time together was so emotional for both of us as we exchanged brochures and I felt like he was passing his energy over to me. I was invited to visit him in his studio but I was too late. A great man and a great abstract artist whos visit I so cherish

    It is great to have my own gallery area in my studio as it is a good way to see the finished work in its prime and also see several of my works together and give the overall sense within my practice as an abstract painter. Most who walk in say WOW which is always a delight and thay are struck by the vibrency and emotion around them.
