    There is a tension in painting between fresh, immediate impression and the rounded-up, perfected object of art. I want my work to hover in the liminal space between the two. The difference between art and craft is that art is a search, a quest. It is important to me to keep some traces of this quest visible to the viewer in a completed painting. This way, the viewer is invited to become a co-creator.
