About Marcus Gavin

  • Biography
I’m a graphic designer by day, and printmaker by night.  I studied illustration at Swindon Art College concentrating on charcoal and pastel sketches and then went on to become a graphic designer, a job I’ve had for the past twenty years.

For the past couple of years I’ve returned to studying to give me a creative outlet that my job doesn’t allow.  Screen printing was a technique I first enjoyed during my foundation college years, returning to the medium has given me a new found love and respect for this skill.

I’m influenced by Op Art, particularly Briget Riley, the abstract work of Paul Klee and seek out examples of minimal graphic design.

My print work is currently exploring abstract graphic images, layering colour on top of each other.  Each of my designs are limited to incredibly short runs (12 maximum) so you have the opportunity of owning an almost unique piece of art.  All of my pieces are signed as Polo, a nickname given to me by my father.

If you keep returning to my collection you’ll see my style gradually evolve as I explore new colours, shapes and effects.  My work is only available on Artfinder.
