    Chrysanthemum Linocut in Progress

    I've been working on this A3 linocut on and off for the last two months and is very much fast becoming a labour of love. It began life with the intention of having a few layers of colour but as it began to develop, I started to build in more layers, working intuitively as it was growing. The inking is a combination of direct inking in one colour and a more painterly approach as in a monoprint on any one layer. I like to build up depth and tones with this approach. It will be a very limited edition of only 6 prints as I hope not to loose any along the way as sometimes the print gods like to throw the occasional curve ball to keep us on our inky toes!

    Taking a look at a small selection of linocuts and wood engravings made over the last couple of years and seeing how my practice has developed. It's a nice thing to do on a quiet afternoon and particularly helps focus the mind on the direction of your body of work.
