About Lena Med

  • Biography
I am from a small town in the Donetsk region. Currently, I live and work in Brno, Czech Republic. My paintings are an exploration of the inner world of man through the language of symbols and metaphors. The central place in my works is occupied by images of animals, which act as universal archetypes of human nature. The paintings are executed in the style of contemporary expressive realism with elements of symbolism. Here, the realistic image of the animal is combined with an emotionally rich background, born from the intuitive movement of the brush. This background is a reflection of feelings and thoughts that cannot be conveyed in words. Animals become allegories of a person's inner state. It is important to me that viewers see not only the image itself in my paintings, but also themselves in it—that the works become a kind of mirror reflecting our dreams, fears, and joys. Each work is an invitation to a dialogue with oneself: about trust and doubts, about the search for a path and inner harmony. The absence of a specific space emphasizes that the action takes place not in the external world, but in the emotional and spiritual dimension. The color palette of the series is based on contrasts. Fiery orange and earthy tones create an atmosphere of flame and inner tension, while white and black accents enhance the drama and depth of the images. Orange-brown symbolizes energy and impulse to action, green symbolizes hope and renewal, and dark shades symbolize steadfastness and strength of character. Overall, I create works where realism becomes a conduit for symbolism, and each brushstroke carries not only an image but also a living emotion. It is an exploration of the human being—their doubts, aspirations, and strength to remain true to themselves.
