About Laurel Maul

I seek to express the moments of wonder and awe that can occur within our world.  Although I have painted all my life in oils and watercolor, I find that the luminosity of the color pixels in digital painting are most effective to create a surrealistic effect.  My works are larger in accord with their power and presence.  I have developed a unique style of digital painting which harmonizes with the patterns of nature.
I usually begin a piece by playing with colors and brushes until an effect catches my eye or reminds me of something.  I then proceed to develop it into a coherent whole.  The art is organic as well as the process that creates it.
