I love to work quickly and spontaneously from the live model and abstract the shapes and lines I see before me. My imagination soon takes over as I lose myself in the process. My fascination and delight with plants and their beautiful flowers and interesting leaves is an ongoing inspiration for my paintings. Here the blue, pink, red violet and green colours represent the time of day as evening. At this special time, an atmosphere of perfumed mystery and soft light pervades the garden. Our model Bacchi is a dancer. Her poses are unusual and challenging to paint! Painted from the life model at a Friday morning Dynamic Drawing session, Byron Bay Australia.

Worked from the imagination in my studio, this painting is in oils. I usually apply three layers of oil paints, building the surface onto the canvas from thin to thick to assure a rich depth of colour and finish. Each layer has to be properly dry before adding another layer. Drying time can be 3-7 days depending on humidity. Note: a protective coat of varnish should not be applied for 6 months after painting is dry on the surface.

This absolutely spontaneous painting was inspired by a sunlit garden full of plants and flowers. In my imagination, the colours, patterns and interesting shapes seemed to vibrate with the music of the air around them. Some of the shapes are abstracted from the live model in a Dynamic Drawing session I attended at Byron Bay, Australia.

My painting style is about dynamic energy in movement and gorgeous colours that sing together in harmony. My subjects are mostly from my imagination. Catalysts to work with freedom and quick spontaneity ("in the zone") are dance, music, plants and the live human body.

Me at a Dynamic Drawing session, Byron Bay, Australia

My drawing Forever - Love Lives started at a Dynamic Drawing session. Later in my studio, I developed it to become a painting. On most Fridays I attend Dynamic Drawing. I enjoy it enormously! It provides a break from my solitary studio. I love to work quickly and spontaneously in an experimental mode. I like to go on a journey of discovery of ideas and colour combinations. The life model, music and props create an ambience that nurtures my spirit of artistic expression. Working with other artists is fun & interesting. There is a great variety of individual creativity in the hall & many enduring friendships have started here.
