An Artfinder customer's testimonial of a recently bought painting

My painting 'The Old Mayor's House II' went to a new home and this is what the customer said about it. 'Hi John Your lovely painting arrived safely this morning. I am delighted with it and can't wait to have it framed and hanging on my wall! You have taken such care in the packaging and all the info on the provenance makes me want to come and visit the Mayor's House!. Many, many thanks, I will enjoy the painting and its story very much. Kind regards Sarah' from Cheltenham Jan. 26, 2015, 11:12 a.m.

Your painting is carefully packaged and shipped.

One of my original works of art is something to be cherished, created with care, attention and emotion so that you can, I hope, connect with its mood and atmosphere. Each painting sent is securely and beautifully wrapped with a soft white tissue paper that protects it. Then other layers of wrapping appropriate to the size are added to protect it further. I enclose a certificate of authenticity with a personal handwritten note at the back so that you can find out how the painting came about. When ready, your painting is sent via the French post office with tracking and insurance, details of which I email you. If you'd like to buy a painting as a present for someone dear or commission me for a special landscape, let me know by contacting me through Art Finder.

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW PAINTING

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW PAINTING

The blank canvas is a bit like the writer's empty page I suppose. A bit daunting. The only way to start is to make that first mark.

    My Studio

    My Studio

This is my studio in Vaison La Romaine, in Provence. It's at the top of an old 18th century building that has 74 steps to the top. I know as I climb them everyday! The great thing is it offers fantastic views over the rooftops of the medieval town and fabulous sunsets that feed directly into my landscape work.

As Far as the Eye Can See II

The first part of the video, the painting is flat while I apply an acrylic underpainting wash. Then, after about 30 seconds, the painting is on my easel for oil painting. After I completed editing the video, I reworked the foreground so the painting you see above is slightly different from the one on the video
