About Johanna Owen

  • Biography
    Hello,

I'm Jo, I am an international selling artist living in Cambridge with my rescue dog and muse, Tuna.

Over the years I have developed my own unique style of applying acrylic & gouache paint entirely using my hands, building up colourful layers, pulling the paint and making impressionistic marks, playing and pushing the limits of accuracy all whilst ensuring the end result captures the subject's true likeness.

Growing up besides 8 Labrador brother and sisters I guess you could always say I was destined to be dog-mad. Having originally focused on portraiture I found my natural love for animals in particular dogs took over. Combining my two passions has led me down an incredible path, meeting dogs from all around the world, fellow animal lovers and the chance to create truly bespoke original pieces of art for families to treasure for years to come.

This series of work is called 'A Dog's Dinner' and was curated to capture the fun and excitement dog's have for their food. We are always seeking humanistic traits in our animals and this one I find bonds us all, as well as puts a smile on our face. The work is meant to be fun, bright and inspire connectivity.

I look forward to connecting with fellow artists and artlovers on Artfinder. Feel free to reach out and say hello :)
