    Thought that I would celebrate today by sharing a commission from a few years ago... it's not just international artists that need to be celebrated, it's international collectors too. This piece was commissioned by my loyal collector in Poland, and is one of my favourites. Honey Bee, oil on canvas 80 x 80cm. Happy creating everyone!

    Here's the result of the portrait sitting from the previous photo. Background is painted with metallic gold which is tricky to capture accurately here. I enjoyed painting this beautiful young woman, and was extremely grateful that she travelled from the US for her sitting. It is useful to spend time with a subject ( although by no means essential).

    Skin palette

    Thought I would introduce my skin palette to you...every artist is different, but these are the same colours that I always use for skin, without deviation and always squeezed out in this order. Regardless of the subject's skin tone, all of these colours will feature. From top left to right... bright red, cadmium orange, burnt umber, raw umber, purple lake, Prussian blue, phthalo turquoise, yellow ochre, pale rose blush, Naples yellow, Payne's grey, black, white.
