About Jem Gooding

  • Biography
    Jem Gooding
BA Hons (Fine Art & Design)
    Colchester School of Art

I am a full-time Painter / Illustrator working from my home studio in Essex, UK

My landscape inspired work is mostly influenced by the natural landscape & coast of East Anglia.  I sketch from life and always carry a camera.  I work in various media, oil on canvas/watercolour sketches and linocut.

Portraits - Most of my portrait work is is of musicians, in oil or linocut.

Printmaking - lino/silkscreen/woodblock/mono - portraits, landscapes and abstract/experimental prints.  Sometimes my prints combine more than one technique, for example, a lino print with an experimental mono print ink layer.

Within all my work, whether it's oil on canvas or a form of printmaking, I like to experiment with the materials.  To create different effects with the paint/ink that make the artwork more unique.  Within an oil painting this may be through the use of glazes or using different tools to apply the paint, or in printmaking, I apply the ink differently each time using various methods to make each print a one-off artwork.

I work to commission - portraits, abstract or landscapes, please get in touch.

    Thanks for visiting my page.

    Beckenham, Kent.
    UK

"A 1 day music festival in Beckenham, exactly 45 years after The Arts Lab held a festival on the same day as Woodstock. David Bowie performed, co-organised and compered the original, as he lived in Beckenham then, during his incredible Space Oddity to Ziggy years"

    Event: The Coffee Art Project

    Dates: 23 Mar 2014 - 30 Mar 2014

Venue: Truman Brewery, Shop12, 91 Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL

The Coffee Art Project is a high profile art competition linked to the theme of coffee and is one of the core initiatives of UK Coffee Week.

This competition aims to showcase the creativity and talents of emerging artists, while engaging a deep spirit of community.

The ultimate objective of this programme, however, is to raise valuable funds for and awareness of Project Waterfall, which supports clean water and sanitation initiatives, this year in the Mbulu District in Tanzania, in partnership with WaterAid charity.
