Painting alla prima

Painting alla prima

I prefer to set up all my still life paintings and paint them alla prima. Here I am adding the finishing touches to a painting of three comice pears, this painting was completed in one sitting. My still life set up is a pile of books with a board on top, this allows me to easily change the height and a cardboard box painted black inside provides the dark background and shadows.
