  • Biography
Although most of my current commissioned work is animal portraiture, in private work I embrace surrealism and love the incongruity of placing characterful animals in formal gardens.  I adore capturing life in the eyes and faces of animals, exploring the 'green theatre' of gardens with topiary, tunnels of green hedges and smooth carpets of lawn, dreamscapes where anything could happen with shades of 'Alice In Wonderland'.  Nature is a constant thread running through all my creative ideas and I can often be found walking in woods and fields with my camera, snapping away to fill my overflowing mind with more ideas.  I work with water soluble crayons, acrylics and oil paints.

I love the work of surrealists such as Mike Worrall, Michael Sowa and Magritte and still bask in the joy of illustrations from my happy childhood - Beatrix Potter, Ralph Steadman, Tenniel and Pauline Baynes ('Chronicles of Narnia').
