Yes, the charcoal drawing titled "Freedom" by the artist James Shipton, arrived swiftly and on time and was safely packaged. This was welcome but perhaps is not so memorable in the scheme of life. What is memorable and genuinely exhilarating was seeing for the first time the beauty of the original drawing close-up. There is a seeming magisterial ease of line, subtlety of tone and boldness of shading in this, and other charcoal drawings by James that fills his drawings with bodily expression and energy. His characters/models breathe and dance on the page. This is no easy accomplishment but here expertly and effortlessly achieved. This artist knows bodies, how they compose themselves and how to capture them in dynamic and expressive poses. Charcoal: a gift from dead trees now resurrected in the hands of this remarkable artist and breathing life once again - not only into the characters portrayed but into all those fortunate enough to gaze upon these wonderful sculpted drawings. Really happy with both the picture and was very happy when the artist got in touch to check everything was received in good shape and that I was happy with the artwork I even asked advice on handling the work as it’s a charcoal drawing and he got back to me straight away letting me know that a fixant had been used allaying my fears on causing smudges to the work. Art also shipped as soon as my order processed. Top notch all round.
