  • Biography

    Born 1957 Wales UK.
A professional artist for over ten years.
My approach is close to that of the impressionists. My belief is that a painting should never be a slavish copy of the real world. I look for the abstract in the "everyday". Economy of brushwork is paramount. I will use many implements together with traditional brushes to get my desired result.
My main influences are the 19th century impressionists and more recently artists like John Blockley and David Tress.
Watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media make up the majority of my work. Experimentation is key.
I believe that the success of a painting relies firstly, on pulling the viewer in to ask his or her own questions and then hopefully, in return, the viewer is rewarded with their own personal and emotional experience.
Since having to decline an opportunity to attend Cardiff Art College in 1978, there has been no lapse in my passion for art. I am, therefore, mostly self taught.
Having travelled much of Europe in my youth, I now reside in the country where I was born, Wales UK.
My artists statement; To always strive for quality and to keep searching.
