Here are various pieces of sculpture ready to be coloured and then assembled. I like to see them all hanging out together like this!

    Moulding the Creature Man III

    Moulding the Creature Man III

Here I am preparing to mould the Creature Man III sculpture. They are all cream at the moment but when cast they will be much more brightly coloured!

Preparing to mould "Creature Man II"

Preparing to mould "Creature Man II"

Here I am preparing to mould the sculpture "Creature Man II." Both elements are standing upright above the sawn-off syringe bodies that will allow the resin into the mould. Then I will shutter I both of them with hardboard and pour rubber into the space around them. Eventually the man will be the same creamy colour of the original wax seen here, and the creature will be bright green, which will add an electric contrast between the two.

    Casting the O Riders

    Casting the O Riders

Here is a picture of some of my casting process. In this picture I am opening the mould for one of the riders, and in the background you can see another of the riders that I have already de-moulded, and some of the O's. It is always exciting to reveal the first casts from their moulds, especially when they are brightly coloured - it feels a bit like opening Christmas presents!

Preparing to mould the "O Riders" sculpture

Here I am preparing one of the O Riders to be moulded. This will be surrounded by retaining walls and then have silicon rubber poured around it. You can see the structures that will become negative spaces in the mould, such as the opening for the syringe body to inject the resin in, and vents to let the air rise out. It is made in white wax for now but it will become brightly coloured at the next stage!

Preparing to mould the Running O

Preparing to mould the Running O

I have made the little sculpture - the "Running O" - in wax and here I am preparing it for mould-making. This stage is always exciting as I am beginning to think about how it will look when it is cast, but I have to pay a lot of attention to exactly what I am doing so that the mould will work well. I have to imagine the whole process in three-dimensions ahead of doing it and then think upside-down and in reverse in order to make sure that I get it right.
