About Helena Oliveira
Biography
After moving from Portugal to the UK, I found the necessity to explore my memories of family and home through painting. I then started creating oil paintings to represent my mother’s love for the family home and the effort with which she organises each room. I am inspired by the relationship between the different decorative objects placed around my home in Portugal. In my paintings, I explore this relationship in an intuitive way and represent each object in a simplified manner, which results in something that is neither abstract nor figurative.
