    Still sketching in clubs, love the small venues and young bands, here on my last visit to Bangkok. Then came covid. I've still a backlog of sketches to sort through, photo, rework, and turn into paintings. Never a dull moment...

    In the past couple of years I've decided to get seriously back into sketching. My poor health had something to do with it for sure ...too much time lost in hospital waiting areas. One day I took out the sketchbook. I've been stubbornly at it ever since. I have recently started posting the better ones here for sale. This is a personal exercise I consider necessary. It keeps that part of my brain sharp. I often work these sketches fast and furious, then later review and adjust . In this way I capture a unique mood. Often lines are rough and scratchy, stains from water or paint may be on the paper. Now I'm on an ambitious effort to rework my vast collection of these into paintings and digital sketches. There's no end in sight ...

    Reshoot!

    Reshoot!

    It was desperately time to replace the camera. With fresh eyes I looked at my portfolio pics, and I got a fright! Time to reshoot all, yes all my paintings, sigh... This camera may look small but it is much better for this function, until I can afford a more serious version. With one eye on the reshoot, I also keep one eye out for the sale of 3 large paintings so's I can purchase the right equipment. Let's do it!

    Yeah! The new space!

    Yeah! The new space!

    Dang it was getting cluttered in the studio room I've been using since we moved into this house some 15 years ago. ... time flies. So the tenant recently vacated the rental suite which is attached to the house. This time we didn't rent it out again, I took the financial plunge and took it as my new studio. It's all windows on 2 sides so good'n bright. I took 18 inches off my solid office tables so they could be just low enough to give me good distance from my work when I stand. I still use the 10 inch platform to stand on for more perspective too. Overall I can spread out all my work with plenty room to move from one project to the next. Just lovely!

    Miniatures. I get in this mood, you see. I'll draw out the outlines or whatever pencil work for a bunch of minis. I get tired and go do some other work. Next time I'll get the colors out, I'll stand there, drip drip, swish swish. Then one or more are done, others to be completed another time. Well, I work this way in all sizes. But in this picture, it's the miniatures.

    Yeah, that's how it feels when I'm focused. I'm a great fan of collage and texture (using photoshop) to get the picture to express exactly how I feel.
