It is in this furnace that we burnout the wax from the ceramic shell mold, before we can pour the bronze, in the lost wax process of bronze casting. We heat the shell up to 1800 F (around 1000 C). Protective gear is absolutely necessary. It is really hot, and I got my hair in flames a couple of times...
