Biography
The Irish landscape is a constant source of inspiration. I aim to capture the essence of this timeless beauty, both in traditional and abstract form - inviting others to see the world through my eyes and stimulating a sense of well-being and harmony.
I work mainly in oils because I love the vibrancy, fluidity and depth of colour that can be achieved. I also use palette knives to create rich textures in impasto style which result in a dynamic raw energy.
I am lucky enough to live near the coast and the foothills of the Dublin mountains. Enjoying hill-walking through the countryside, camera at the ready, there is always an interesting vista to capture and work up later in my studio. Weather permitting, I like to paint outdoors (en plein air). This creates a sense of immediacy to capture the changing light and a refreshing looseness occurs. I am a regular visitor to the annual international event in Wexford Art in the Open. This is Europe’s largest open air painting festival
