    Preparing my wooden panels

    There's nothing like the feeling of painting on a good surface! I love painting on wooden panels, sized and ground by me. Some call me traditionalist but I rather be that than have my work cracking after only a few years. Properly prepared, paintings on panels have stood the test of time and have a long tradition dating back to the Egyptian Fayoum portraits and the Bysantin iconography. Here are a few images of my process.
