  • Biography
It is an absolute pleasure to express my positive and joyful view of life through art. I am an avid observer and enjoy sharing my observations with the world around me. Many of my paintings are inspired by my travels to France and Italy, local trips to the North Carolina mountains and beaches along the East Coast, or simply by stepping out into my garden.

Painting the interplay of color and light is exciting and one of the welcome challenges I face to capture and hold the eye of the viewer. I see color where others may not notice. While some would look at a road and say it is black, I can see shades of lavender, blue, or even gold depending on what the light reflects. As an avid gardener, I cultivate this same passion for color in the arbors, paths, and flower gardens surrounding my home. There is beauty all around me and I love being able to use these inspirations whether it’s on canvas, in my garden or in my home.

Although I have been painting most of my life, it wasn’t until 1985 that I became determined to become a professional artist. I sold my successful antique shop in Matthews, NC to give myself two years to develop a defined style of painting. My signature style, creating fresh vibrant landscapes and warm inviting interiors emerged quickly. Soon, I began selling paintings through gallery representation across the East Coast, including Shain Gallery of Charlotte, NC (for 25 years). Currently, I am represented by eight art galleries and that number continues to grow. It has been a dream come true.
