    Artist Statement

The sky, with its captivating atmospheric effects-sunrises, sunsets, and shifting light-uniquely connects us all and has inspired my work since the beginning.

Born in Toronto, I attained a degree in Fine Art Studio and Fine Art History from the University of Toronto. While my work is highly intuitive, I view painting as a process of mark-making, colour interplay, and contrasts in light. My goal is to convey brightness, drama, and atmosphere, drawing inspiration from urban or rural landscapes with vibrant sunsets and dramatic clouds.

My paintings strike a balance between spontaneous abstract gestures and figurative refences, resulting in thought-provoking images. Each piece evolves through my observations and decisions, revealing beauty that often emerges from unexpected accidents. The work hints at recognizable forms, shaped by layering and the willingness to take risks in every composition. I remain deeply committed to this creative journey.

Since 1990, my work has been exhibited across Canada, including at Art Toronto [formerly the Toronto International Art Fair] and currently in galleries in Toronto and Ottawa. My paintings are in private and corporate collections both in Canada and the United States.
