My name is Cédric Brion. I am a freelance photographer, born in 1978 in Belgium, in the suburbs of Mons, where I am still based today. Drawn to the visual arts from an early age, I began exploring photography at 18. My first tool was a film camera, and I developed my images in the quiet darkness of my room. This intimate and analog process shaped my sensitivity to light, shadow, and atmosphere. Over the years, through experimentation, personal research, and participation in various competitions and commissioned work for the business world, I gradually moved toward professional photography. Vision & Artistic Motivation My fascination for creating dark, almost black portraits comes from childhood. I have always been drawn to fantastical and shadowed worlds, and I try to translate this inner universe into my work. I see my portraits as windows into imagined realities—spaces where viewers can drift beyond the visible. From the darkness of the soul, a certain clarity emerges that deeply moves me. Intense light often blinds; darkness, instead, reveals and magnifies. I am particularly inspired by ancient civilizations and their symbolic power. Through contrast, silence, and atmosphere, I aim to create images that resonate beyond the surface—portraits that invite viewers to project themselves and find a reflection within. My work seeks to disturb, to question, and to open a space between reality and imagination.
