About Benna Holden

  • Biography
The exploration of color plays an important role in my work. My palette exists of any possible color and combination. I am interested in how a color vibrates, illuminates, or loses depth with the help of another one. I find it exciting when the paint chroma interacts and seems to change its identity depending upon adjacent ones. In my landscapes, I am not necessarily recreating what I have seen, but rather hope to achieve emotionally charged experiences that are a metaphor for what I encountered. I want to capture the energy from the natural world, especially the powerful force of water. My interpretations and perceptions often lead to an end result that appears tranquil and inviting although at times I hope to surprise myself with something unexpected. I currently study at the Art Students League of New York, and have exhibited frequently in New York City. My work resides in private collections in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Brazil.
