About azoriano

  • Biography

Azoriano (Marco Ferreira) is an artist and designer from Portugal, who creates decorative ceramics, characterized by grotesque figures.

    - Inspired by the ancestral and fantastic imagery present in the handicrafts of Barcelos' ceramists, such as Rosa Ramalho famous ceramist of the 60’s and 70’s, this project revisits the traditional ceramic bestiaries present in Portuguese folklore and popular art. It seeks to provoke curiosity and fascination, embodying unconscious impulses related to disorder, confusion, absurdity and abnormality that terrify spectators, fundamental characteristic of monsters, allowing them to reflect on what defines something as monstrous, but keeping these entities on the periphery of humanity.
