    Outside my studio

I built the studio from scratch and it is clad in sustainably sourced local larch. Facing north provides the ideal even and cool tone to paint by.

    Handmade Birch Ply Panels

    Handmade Birch Ply Panels

Grade A/B birch plywood is a very stable surface to paint on and is ideal for thick impasto as the surface does not move. I seal both sides with GAC 100, then add battens to the back to stop any warping and finally prime the front with four coats high quality primer. I also prime the back and sides.

    Interviewed on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

I was invited to appear on Dotty McLeod Breakfast Show, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, to discuss a new survey that found Fenland is the country’s unhappiest place. I took one of my paintings in which depicts a dramatic Fen morning sky. For many years the Fenland landscape has been a source of pleasure to me where I often sketch, paint and walk. And, as I said the interview, many of the people I meet are generally warm and friendly.
