    From my ABSTRACT CITYSCAPES series, this textural impasto palette knife oil painting captures Gaudi's amazing cathedral Sagrada Familia and the abstracted Barcelona rooftops at sunset. In Barcelona even the rooftops look like a mosaic of Gaudi. Everywhere I wondered I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I observe what I call the ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS. The rhythm of the rooftops seen from the distance fascinates me. In my personal artistic vision the architectonic details create an aesthetic abstract pattern that urges to be translated in differently morphed palette knife strokes and marks.

    PARK GUELL NIGHT

    PARK GUELL NIGHT abstract cityscape was a commissioned textural impasto palette knife oil painting for a collector from Erie, PA, U.S. who was inspired by my other Barcelona Abstract Cityscapes I painted over the years. 've always loved to paint Barcelona view from Parc Guell . In this work Sagrada Familia, seen in distance, is illuminated under a huge full moon. In the foreground I painted the mosaic bench of Gaudi. This palette knife oil painting is part of my series ''Abstract cityscapes''. I started this series of abstract cities years ago and it is a recurrent theme for me.

    I am here with 2 of my large commissioned works I painted last year. One of Barcelona view from Park Guell of 100x70 cm for an art collector from Barcelona. The other one is a sunflowers and lavender landscape in Provence of 125x125 cm for a collector from Hong Kong.

    ROME SKYLINE FROM ORANGE GARDEN , original ABSTRACT CITYSCAPE is a textural impasto palette knife oil painting , sizes 20x20 inches ( 50x50 cm ) - commissioned work for a client in Oregon, U.S. In this work I painted the view of Rome as seen from Orange Trees Garden. Over the rooftops that create those ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS of Rome can be seen St. Peter 's Dome. Everywhere I wandered, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS. The rhythm of the rooftops seen from the distance fascinates me. In my personal artistic vision the rooftops, the architectonic details create practically an aesthetic abstract pattern, that urges to be translated in differently morphed palette knife strokes and marks interacting with each other in various ways and generating the painterly quality of the impasto textures that I love so much.     I am working these days on a painting from my series of Barcelona Park Guell works. This is the preparatory detailed sketch for this painting. I painted so many times the amazing Park Guell of Gaudi with the entire panoramic view of Barcelona. Since 2010 when I first traveled to Barcelona this place inspired me a lot. In 2017 was there again as I am in love with this city.
