    Amy Jobes Painting in the Studio

    I create textured, vibrant and emotive oil paintings inspired by my local stunning and expansive beaches. In these wild places I fill up my heart, then I pour it out onto the canvas. Painting is a deeply meditative experience for me. When I’m really in the zone I feel like the painting is coming through me from elsewhere.     Sunsets and colours found in the sky fill my world with wonder. In my work I like to accentuate any subtle shifts in colours I observe in the sky to increase the drama, saturation and impact of my paintings.     At Saunton Beach, North Devon

    Whilst most of my paintings are completed in the studio, I love to paint outside en plein air. This painting 'Rhythm in the Skies' was started in acrylic at Saunton Beach in North Devon. Saunton is one of my favourite places to be. I feel like I can really breathe there. The sense of space is awesome, and allows me to fill up my head and heart with ideas and inspiration for painting.
