    On location in Normandy

    On location at a sunflower field in the Epte Valley in Normandy; although recent weather conditions had interrupted plans for shooting this field over the past couple of weeks, rain had certainly helped to bring more of the flowers into bloom compared with the situation here in mid July.

    During my gap year traveling to New Zealand, I was walking the Rees & Dart valley track in New Zealand's South Island and met up with Colin Monteath, a Christchurch based photographer taking pictures for his picture library Hedgehog House. On Cascade Saddle with Mount Aspiring beyond, he needed a figure in the foreground to help make his images more interesting so I was only glad to help. This image was used for a double-spread New Zealand Alpine Calender back in 1990 and the cover of a beak by Neville Peat on Mount Aspiring National Park a few years later. The experience traveling around Australia, New Zealand and then North America together with this chance meeting helped to encourage me to pursue a career in travel & landscape photography along side my animation work at the time and to this day as well.
