Artfinder launches curatorial board

Artfinder, the art marketplace, this month announces the introduction of a curatorial board. Headed up by Artfinder’s lead curator, Alice Phillimore, the board will be responsible for implementing curatorial guidelines across the site, as well as providing guidance and mentoring opportunities to Artfinder’s 10,000 artists globally.

The curatorial board is Dario Illari, founder of Jealous Gallery and Print Studio, Julia Alvarez, founder and director of BEARSPACE Gallery and the South London Art Map, Richard Kalman, owner and founder of the Crane Kalman Brighton gallery, Aindrea Emelife, art critic and presenter and Dr Matthew Eve, freelance exhibition curator, writer, historian and illustrator. Artfinder’s non-executive chairman, Alex Heath, will also join the curatorial board.

Artfinder’s CEO Michal Szczesny comments:

‘This is such an exciting time in Artfinder’s growth. Our mission is to make art accessible, affordable and a viable career for artists. Part of that is a new commitment to curation and promoting great quality work and emerging artists. I’m delighted to announce the brilliant people who will be helping us to do that.’

Lead curator Alice Philimore comments:

'It's a unique opportunity and privilege to work with Artfinder, who help so many artists bring their art to a mass audience. Each member of the curatorial board brings their own unique perspective and experience within the art market, and we are all looking forward to working together to mentor and keep improving the quality on the site.'

The largest online marketplace for art, Artfinder is a VC funded startup, backed by the investors behind Spotify and Zoopla. Investors include Wellington Partners, Oxford Capital, Cambridge Angels, plus private investors in the UK, the US and Switzerland.
